As Executive Director, you will:
- Oversee the activities of the volunteer organization, including planning and execution of quarterly public forums and monthly Steering Committee meetings.
- Support the efforts of the Bio-Defense Network to seek out new consulting opportunities and obtain additional commitments for contracts
- Work closely with the Executive Committee and Steering Committee to assure the financial and programmatic viability of the organization.
- Develop, coordinate, and administer all grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts established to fulfill the mission of the organization;
- Organize and conduct additional workshops, conferences, symposia, or similar activities;
- Visit educational and research institutions, commercial organizations, other government agencies, and public and private organizations to promote and explain the objectives of the program.
- Represent the organization on regional coordinating committees to assure its interests are promoted and its reputation is sustained.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Applicants must demonstrate that they have:
- Worked in a leadership role with a non-profit organization and understand the intricacies of operating under the guidance of volunteer boards.
- Demonstrated the ability to identify funding opportunities for non-profits and develop a program for obtaining sustaining funding.
- A passion for helping prepare the community to deal with medically-related crises.
- A basic understanding of pandemic and bio-terrorism preparedness issues is preferred, but not required.
- The ability to comfortably represent the organization to potential governmental and corporate sponsors.
Candidates determined to be Best Qualified will be asked to meet with the organization’s executive committee for interviews. There are no additional benefits other than the stated salary.
Minimal travel may be required.
A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
